Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to erupt within the mouth. When they align properly and gum tissue is healthy, wisdom teeth do not have to be removed. Unfortunately, this does not generally happen. Wisdom teeth removal is necessary when they are prevented from properly erupting within the mouth. They may grow sideways, partially emerge from the gum, and even remain trapped beneath the gum and bone. Impacted teeth can take many positions in the bone as they attempt to find a pathway that will allow them to successfully erupt.
The implants themselves are tiny titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. These metal anchors act as tooth root substitutes. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. Small posts that protrude through the gums are then attached to the implant. These posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.
Implants also help preserve facial structure, preventing bone deterioration that occurs when teeth are missing.
When it comes to full mouth rehabilitation there are several options. Dr. Sedaros will go through each option with you to make a customized plan for your specific needs. Many people who wear dentures find them difficult when eating and uncomfortable to wear. Having the option of a fixed denture or removable denture using dental implants can make everyday life much easier.
From wisdom tooth removal to corrective jaw surgery and dental implants, we focus on our patients and provide you state-of-the-art surgeries that improve your life and smile.
Staying at the forefront of dental technology is essential to providing our patients the highest level of dental care.
